Has the internet changed our dating expectations in a very unrealistic way? I am actually beginning to think that it has. I have read countless posts that read amazingly like a child devising a wish list for Santa Claus.

These posts read like this, first of all I am a "Great Person" who would like for this future person to have wonderful qualities, be a great communicator, gorgeous, young and have no mental illnesses or personality disorders. Lol, do we really believe that life works this way.

Have we adapted a lazy internet mentality where we feel that we can simply use the internet to electronically "order up" people as if we were filling out a menue order form for food?

In cases like these, what happens when the person arrives with all of the qualities in the "check list" but say one? Do you return this person back to the mass dating pool much like a person might return a piece of meat that is either over done or under cooked or perhaps the person just doesn't fancy how it looks on their plate?

In any case, people are utilizing the internet to find what it is that they desire. In this process we should be careful catching and releasing potential mates back into the "dating sea." Could it also be the case that the chase is much more fun than the reality of actually catching something.

Perhaps, actually catching something and keeping it would involve "work." Individuals may now have to be the "Great Person" that their post mentioned. They may also need to communicate truths, compromise, and accept someone else's flaws as they would want a potential mate to accept their flaws and etc.

Maybe, instead of changing their dating approach it is just easier to throw potential partners back and form another dating wish list to post on another dating site when they are ready.

Perhaps we are investing more time and energy on the hunt because the internet has encouraged this behavior.
