"If you like pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain..."



Okay, stop there. It's a great song, but I'm not dating anyone, and I certainly don't want to hook up with my ex. On the other hand, swap strawberry milkshakes for pina coladas, and ginger ale/beer for champagne, and the song isn't far off. So how else to make my profile stand out without coming across too weird...



So how about poetry?





I grew up in Ottawa, then moved to B.C.;

I went to UBC to earn my degree.

I studied biology, but enjoy science of all kinds;

Have a conversation with me, a wonderful meeting of minds.

I have a refined sense of humour, I like British comedy best;

I was raised on Monty Python, Blackadder, and the rest.

I can ski on water or snow, play squash, and I fence;

Volleyball, soccer, or a back massage if you’re tense.

I’m a good cook, and my desserts are quite dandy;

And for renos at home, I’m really quite handy.

I’ve traveled to Australia, New Zealand, most of Europe and England;

Most of the U.S., including Hawaii, Egypt, Scotland and Ireland.

By day I teach science and math in high school;

If you’ve seen my photos, performing magic part-time is cool.

I’m a night person, and for pets I prefer cats;

But many other animals are cute, though not always rats.

I drive automatic and standard, drive boats, and can fish;

But expanding my circle of close friends is my wish.

I’m looking for someone nice, a friend who is loyal;

Intelligent and attractive, but you don’t have to act like a royal.

So if you’ve read this far, and found my rhymes funny;

I hope you enjoyed it, I don’t do this for money.

So send me a wink, and perhaps we’ll chat on the net;

Perhaps we will click, like we’ve already met.

Then what to do, perhaps go for a run;

I hear doing that on the seawall is fun.

Or play a game of squash, then go for a snack;

Dinner and a movie, is another plan of attack.

Perhaps I should warn you, I don’t drink and can’t dance;

But I’m a nice guy, so give me a chance.

I do like Italian, Indian, and Thai;

So if I’m to your taste, then give me a try.
